What’s Talespoon? Well, it’s a tablespoon… but for tales!
Veeery clever, right?… ahem… Ok, but Talespoon is also Elisa and Ilaria, two friends with a passion for books, and cooking*. A few years ago we talked about all the stories that revolve around food, and after that conversation we kept finding more and more books and movies where food was central to the story. I think maybe it’s because food is also central to everyone’s life, an expression of every culture. Some of the best moments in life happen around a table. Chatting people, tinkling cutlery, plates, glasses… A perfect scenography. Do you remember Armande’s birthday party in the film Chocolat, based on the novel by Joanne Harris? Who wouldn’t love to be seated at that table? We certainly would! This is why we decided to recreate some of the wonderful recipes we read about!
*…and Scotland! Ok, maybe off topic, but we had to say it, cause it’s something that really bring us together and also because we really really reeeealllly love Scotland – By the way, in the picture we’re on Cramond Island (north-west of Edinburgh).

Perchè “Talespoon”? Che cosa significa? Ci siamo inventate questa parola come mix di “tale”, storia, e “spoon”, cucchiaio, pensando possa ben definire la natura di questo blog. Ma “Talespoon” è anche Elisa e Ilaria, due amiche accomunate dall’amore per i libri e la cucina*. Qualche anno fa, parlando di alcune storie che ruotano intorno al cibo, abbiamo iniziato a notare quanti film e romanzi parlino proprio di questo argomento, o riportino addirittura ricette tra le loro pagine. Lo avete mai letto, ad esempio, “Come l’acqua per il cioccolato” di Laura Esquivel? Forse il motivo per cui tanti romanzi si concentrano su questo argomento è che il cibo è un elemento fondamentale della vita di ognuno di noi, e alcuni dei momenti più belli, le conversazioni migliori o le liti più furiose accadono in cucina. Il tavolo da pranzo con piatti, bicchieri, persone che chiaccherano e gesticolano, posate che tintinnano, è scenografico, pensate solo alla scena della festa di compleanno di Armande nel film tratto da Chocolat di Joanne Harris… A chi non piacerebbe essere seduto a quel tavolo? A noi sì… Ecco perchè abbiamo pensato che sarebbe stato bellissimo cucinare e assaggiare tutti quei piatti di cui abbiamo letto! Bè, magari non proprio tutti, diciamo quelli che noi abbiamo considerato più rappresentativi.
